周璇（1918至1957）原名周小红。江苏常熟人。早年在歌舞班演出。1936年进电影界当演员，主要作品有《马路天使》、《夜深沉》、《忆江南》、《夜店》等。她还在许多影片中演唱歌曲有“金嗓子”之称。是中国电影史上最受欢迎的女演员之一。

Movie Description:
A young man named Chen Xiaoping who was a bugler. He lived at an attic in a lane with his sworn brothers. Opposite his attic there lived two sister girls Xiaoyun and Xiaohong. Xiaoyun had to work as a prostitute under the pressure of life. Xiaohong has a beautiful voice so she sang songs with a stringed instrument performer. Xiaohong and Xiaochen fell in love with each other gradually. A hooligan named Gu Chenglong took a fancy to Xiaohong. Therefore, Xiaohong and Xiaochen had to flee away to another place. Later Xiaoyun reunited with them. Not long after the music player discovered their hiding place and he with the hooligan came to seize Xiaohong. When they arrived there were only Xiaoyun and Xiaohong at home. At last Xiaoyun helped her sister run away while she was killed by the stringed instrument performer.
