Killer In Double-flag Town (a.k.a. The Swordsman in Double-Flag Town) was named one of the Best Ten Chinese Films at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 1992 and later went on to win the Film Critic Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1993. The film also received awards for its beautifully designed cinematography, including the prestigious Golden Rooster in China. Director He Ping, multiple award winning Chinese director, started working in the film industry in 1979 and made his directorial debut in 1987. The thriller Killer In Double-flag Town is his third feature-length movie and is now English Subtitled.
The story starts with a young swordsman Haige travelling to the mysterious Double-flag Town, only to honor his late father's order to claim his bride there. When he arrives at this solitary or even terrifying village, all he sees are cold faces - including his supposedly fiancee and father-in-law. Despite her indifference to him, Haige still tries to protect her from being assaulted and kills the man who attempts to rape her. However, the culprit's elder brother, a lethal swordsman ruling over this deserted village, decides to revenge on Haige...
